Word of the Day: Life
Image of the Day: for today there are two alternative images - one shows my black rosary with an editing effect used on the photograph; the other is a figure i bought for us at Hopetoun Garden Centre. She is about 15 cm high, 25 cm long and she sits on our fireplace.
Gail writes: life, live, what we have here on earth, life
Token of the Day: Stories of Magical Animals - an Usborne Young Reading book. Chapters are: Pegasus; The Greedy Griffin; The Evil Cockatrice; Unicorn Magic. And the cover has a lovely picture of a unicorn!
Life - all senses awake, breath, energy, spirit. To be fully alive requires being true to oneself, open to others, loving, being, feeling, experiencing.
The post arrived at about 12 noon today. We were both still in bed, me contemplating "life", Gail writing, reading, thinking. The post included a package addressed to Gail. In it was a gift for me - a "Life is good" t-shirt with a flower (tulip) image on the front and below it the word GROW. The "Life is good" philosophy is quite wonderful. Their motto printed on all their sales labels reads:
Do what you like
Like what you do
Optimisim can take you anywhere
The words are written in a circle so that you keep reading mantra-like until you arrive at your destination - which bit speaks to me most? I think just now that liking what i do is vital (vital, life-giving, sustaining!). From that place on the journey i can gather the strength, be more optimistic, more alive and then choose to do what i like!
Throughout Lent we are following two books of daily readings and reflections in addition to the book we are following together through the year. Today's readings speak to the concept of LIFE:
Ask and it will be given (Matthew)
Give me my life, and my people their lives (Book of Esther)
In everything do to others as you would have them do to you... (Matthew)
Whose hands is my life in? Am i simply thrown from one pair of hands to another? Do i have a hold on my own life? Have i given myself fully over to the love and care of God?
life -
blood coursing through veins
breath joining the rhythm
spirit creates a dance of the senses
mind stills, learns to pause
God-in-me dreams my soul alive.

may we listen, live and be - Life
This life, this opportunity, NOW.
